Luba Kaufman
Young Leadership Award

Luba Kaufman - Young Leadership Award Luba Kaufman was born in Moscow and immigrated to the United States with her family at the age of 4. Determined to provide their daughter with a Jewish education denied to her in the former Soviet Union, Luba was enrolled in a Jewish Day School. The love and appreciation she gained for traditional Judaism later provided the impetus for her to join RAJE, formerly known as Shaarei Emunah. Here Luba volunteered all of her free evenings and weekends to help with Shabbat and Holiday programs, social events and student trips to Israel, while working her day as a successful Real Estate Tax Consultant for New York Water Management.

In 2006, Luba joined RAJE full time as their Fellowship Program Coordinator, where she was responsible for the student and young adult Jewish identity and community development programming. Today, Luba has led over 15 trips to Israel; she maintains a close relationship with over 1500 RAJE alumni and is at the forefront of building the RAJE community.

Professionally, Luba holds a BS in Computer Science from Brooklyn College. She is currently a second year student in a Masters in Social Work Program at Wurzweiler - Yeshiva University. Luba hopes to one day use her MSW to better serve the Russian Jewish Community.
