Volunteer Internships for College Students

DOROT can help you design an individualized internship schedule with customized projects to match your interests, meet your professional goals, or fulfill requirements for class credit.

College-age interns spend a semester or a summer learning about DOROT and serving the frail elderly in the community. As a DOROT intern, you will be Campus Volunteer Coordinator Internship Application >>exposed to the issues and dilemmas of aging, and gain experience in all aspects of DOROT’s operations, from food delivery systems to fundraising and institutional development. Among many activities, volunteer interns escort seniors to and from the doctor, visit with seniors in their homes for friendship, assist seniors in computer use, and help with on-site programs. DOROT’s internships, which put students at the forefront of our operations, are particularly rewarding learning experiences.

Through our focused internship and volunteer programs, we are able to achieve our desired outcomes of feeding, housing, and providing companionship for isolated and impoverished elderly while also providing experiential growth and learning opportunities for college-age interns.

DOROT Campus Volunteer Coordinator, A Paid Internship

DOROT’s Campus Volunteer Coordinator program, funded by the Dorot Foundation, offers stipends to motivated, community-minded undergraduate college students to serve as DOROT representatives on their campuses, recruiting student volunteers for DOROT programs. Campus Volunteer Coordinator (CVC) Interns volunteer in various capacities over the course of an academic year and create volunteer programs for their peers. CVC Interns meet with staff facilitators for joint supervision and brainstorming sessions. At these sessions, the interns also learn from each other’s experiences and engage in study of relevant Jewish texts.

CVC Intern Duties:

* Coordinate DOROT’s community volunteer programs for your campus * Recruit, train, and organize volunteers * Attend Volunteer/Activity Fairs * Design programs to attract volunteers * Volunteer yourself to help DOROT seniors

Candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communications skills, have experience in programming and community organizing, and have the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Interns spend 2–4 hours a week on volunteer recruitment and are paid $10 an hour for their recruitment time.
